Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
3/4 cup 7-Up soda (or any lemon-lime soda)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold cubed butter with a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour in 7-Up soda and stir just until dough comes together. Avoid overmixing.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently pat to about 1-inch thickness.
- Use a biscuit cutter or glass to cut out biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
- Serve warm with butter, honey, or your favorite jam.
Notes
Keep butter very cold for the fluffiest biscuits.
Avoid overmixing the dough to prevent toughness.
Self-rising flour can be used—just reduce or omit baking powder and salt.
Freeze cut dough before baking for make-ahead convenience.
Great served with honey, jam, or sausage gravy.
