Ingredients
Pizza Rolls
- 1 pound pizza dough, room temperature
- 24-36 slices pepperoni
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 cup pizza sauce
Garlic Oil & Garnish
- 3-4 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the pan and dough: Place parchment paper on the bottom of a 7-inch round metal cake pan and coat lightly with cooking spray. Spray your workstation lightly as well, then place the pizza dough on it and press or roll out into a roughly 6-7 inch flat square. Using a pizza cutter, slice the dough into 12 equal pieces. Cover the dough pieces with plastic wrap to prevent drying.
- Shape each dough piece: Take one piece of dough at a time and shape it into a circle about 3 to 3½ inches in diameter. Repeat with all pieces, keeping the remainder covered with plastic wrap.
- Fill the dough circles: On each dough circle, place one slice of pepperoni in the center, add about a teaspoon of pizza sauce, then top with shredded mozzarella cheese. Add another slice of pepperoni, more cheese, and finish with a final slice of pepperoni on top.
- Seal the pizza rolls: Gently pull the edges of the dough over the filling, pinching them to fully enclose the ingredients and form sealed balls. Place four of these balls seam side down into the prepared cake pan and cover the remaining balls with plastic wrap to prevent drying until ready to cook.
- Prepare garlic oil and preheat air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Meanwhile, combine olive oil and minced garlic in a small microwave-safe bowl and heat in 15-second intervals until fragrant, typically 30-45 seconds.
- Brush and air fry: Brush the tops of the pizza rolls in the pan with the prepared garlic oil. Place the pan inside the preheated air fryer and cook at 350°F for 7 minutes, or until the rolls are lightly golden.
- Finish and serve: Once cooked, brush the pizza rolls again with garlic oil, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh chopped parsley if desired. Wrap the pan with foil to keep warm while cooking additional batches. Serve hot with extra pizza sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Keep the dough pieces covered with plastic wrap whenever not shaping or cooking to prevent drying out.
- The air frying time may vary slightly depending on your air fryer model; watch for a light golden color as your indicator.
- Feel free to customize fillings by adding vegetables or different cheeses.
- Ensure the garlic oil is not overheated to avoid burning the garlic flavor.
- The sealed dough balls can be made ahead and refrigerated for a few hours before cooking; just bring to room temperature before air frying.
