Description

Crispy, golden baked cream cheese wontons filled with a smooth, savory-sweet cream cheese mixture and served with Thai sweet chili sauce. These bite-sized appetizers are light, creamy, and irresistibly crunchy—perfect for parties, snacks, or easy entertaining.

Ingredients

8 oz cream cheese, softened

20 wonton wrappers

3 tbsp chopped green onions

1 tbsp minced sweet onions

1 tsp sugar

1/4 tsp salt

1 egg, whisked (for sealing)

Vegetable oil (for brushing)

3 tbsp Thai sweet chili sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly oiled foil.
  2. In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese, chopped green onions, minced sweet onions, sugar, and salt until smooth.
  3. Whisk the egg in a small bowl to use as an egg wash.
  4. Place 1 tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper.
  5. Brush the edges of the wrapper with egg wash, bring opposite corners together, then fold and pinch all corners to seal tightly.
  6. Repeat until all filling is used.
  7. Arrange wontons on the prepared baking sheet and lightly brush or spray them with vegetable oil.
  8. Bake for 7–8 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
  9. Cool for 10 minutes before serving. Serve with Thai sweet chili sauce for dipping.

Notes

Add crab meat or imitation crab to make baked crab rangoon.

Mix in chili flakes or sriracha for a spicy kick.

Use honey or pineapple juice in the filling for a sweeter variation.

Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 5–7 minutes for an even crispier version.

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.

Freeze unbaked wontons on a tray, then bake straight from frozen, adding 2–3 extra minutes of cook time.
