Description

Better Than Anything Toffee is a delicious, buttery treat with caramelized toffee, smooth chocolate, and crunchy nuts. Easy to make and perfect for any occasion, this toffee is sure to be a hit.

Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

¼ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons water

1 cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips

½ cup chopped pecans, walnuts, or almonds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt the butter, sugar, salt, and water over medium heat. Stir constantly until the mixture reaches a deep golden brown and 300°F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer, about 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Immediately pour the toffee mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it out evenly. Let it sit for 1-2 minutes until it begins to firm up slightly.
  4. While the toffee is still warm, sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top. Let the chocolate melt for about 2 minutes, then spread it evenly with a spatula.
  5. Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the melted chocolate, gently pressing them in to ensure they stick.
  6. Allow the toffee to cool at room temperature for about 2 hours or refrigerate for 30 minutes to speed up the process. Once cooled and set, break the toffee into bite-sized pieces.

Notes

Store the toffee in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or refrigerate for up to a month.

If you don’t want to use nuts, you can substitute with toffee bits or sprinkle sea salt over the chocolate for a different flavor.

You can use dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or a combination for the topping.
