Description

Cajun boiled eggs served in a spicy and aromatic garlic broth, perfect for flavor lovers seeking a zesty appetizer with a Cajun twist.

Ingredients

Eggs and Broth

  • 6 large eggs
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Spicy Garlic Broth

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Boil the eggs: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a pot. Add the Cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper and stir well to flavor the water. Carefully place the 6 large eggs into the boiling water and let them cook for 10 minutes to achieve a hard-boiled texture.
  2. Cool the eggs: Remove the eggs from the boiling water and immediately place them in a bowl of ice water to cool down and stop the cooking process. This also makes peeling easier.
  3. Prepare the spicy garlic broth: While the eggs cool, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a separate pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes and sauté them until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Then, pour in the seasoned boiling water broth from the pot and bring it to a simmer.
  4. Peel and marinate: Peel the cooled eggs and gently place them into the simmering spicy garlic broth. Let the eggs marinate in the broth for a few minutes to absorb the flavors.
  5. Garnish and serve: Transfer the eggs with some broth to serving bowls and garnish with freshly chopped green onions. Serve warm as a flavorful Cajun-inspired appetizer.

Notes

  • Adjust the spice level by adding more or less red pepper flakes according to your heat preference.
  • For deeper flavor, let the peeled eggs marinate longer in the spicy garlic broth before serving.
