Description
Cheesy Chicken Taco Dip is a flavorful fusion dish combining ground chicken, taco sauce, and a blend of sharp cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. Slightly spicy and gooey, this dip is perfect for dinner parties, game days, or any festive occasion. Serve warm with tortilla chips for easy scooping and sharing.
Ingredients
Meat and Vegetables
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small yellow onion – minced
- 4 garlic cloves – minced
- 1 pound ground chicken
Seasonings and Sauces
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp sweet paprika
- 1 tsp chili flakes
- 2 jars (8 oz/220 g each) taco sauce – mild or spicy
Cheese
- 14 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 14 ounces lower moisture mozzarella cheese block, grated
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Mince the garlic cloves and finely chop the onion. Grate both the sharp cheddar and mozzarella cheeses and set them aside for later use.
- Sauté Aromatics: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add the minced onion and garlic, cooking until they become translucent and fragrant, about 3 minutes.
- Cook Ground Chicken: Add the ground chicken to the skillet, breaking it up as it cooks. Cook until the chicken is browned and no longer pink inside.
- Season and Simmer: Stir in salt, black pepper, sweet paprika, and chili flakes to the chicken. Then add the taco sauce and bring the mixture to a simmer, allowing flavors to meld.
- Add Cheese: Reduce the heat to low and gradually incorporate the grated cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. Stir continuously until all cheese is fully melted and the dip is smooth and gooey.
- Serve: Optionally, sprinkle the dip with toppings like chopped chives, extra chili flakes, or sliced jalapeños. Serve immediately with tortilla chips for scooping and enjoy the warm, cheesy taco flavors.
Notes
- You can adjust the spiciness by choosing mild or spicy taco sauce and modifying chili flakes quantity.
- Use freshly grated cheeses for the best melting texture.
- For a thicker dip, let it cook a few minutes longer on low heat to reduce excess liquid.
- Keep the dip warm by placing the skillet over very low heat during serving.
- Great as an appetizer or a party snack paired with your favorite tortilla chips or fresh veggies.
