- 1 tsp. smoked paprika
- 0.75 tsp. ground cumin
- 0.5 tsp. garlic powder
- 0.5 tsp. kosher salt
Lime Crema
- 0.25 cup sour cream (or plain whole-milk Greek yogurt as substitute)

- 1 to 2 Tbsp. finely chopped fresh cilantro
Avocado-Mango Salsa
- 1 medium ripe avocado, diced
- 1 medium ripe mango, diced
- 1 small (or 1/2 large) fresh jalapeño, seeds and ribs removed, finely diced
- 2 Tbsp. finely chopped fresh cilantro
- Zest and juice of 1 lime
Other
- 8 corn or flour tortillas, warmed
Instructions
- Prep Shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry thoroughly with a paper towel and place them in a large bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil, finely chopped shallots, chipotle chili powder, smoked paprika, ground cumin, garlic powder, and kosher salt. Mix everything until the shrimp are well coated. Let this marinate for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
- Prepare Salsa: In a separate bowl, combine diced mango, diced avocado, finely diced jalapeño with seeds and ribs removed, chopped cilantro, and the zest and juice of one lime. Stir gently to combine all ingredients. Season with a pinch of salt to taste and set aside.
- Cook Shrimp: Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add the marinated shrimp evenly spaced in a single layer. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until the shrimp turn opaque and are cooked through. Transfer cooked shrimp to a clean bowl or plate and remove tails if desired.
- Make Lime Crema: In a small bowl, whisk together sour cream, fresh lime juice, and chopped cilantro until smooth. This will add a zesty, creamy element to the tacos.
- Assemble Tacos: Warm the tortillas and spread a thin layer of lime crema on each one. Top with a portion of the chipotle shrimp, then spoon the avocado-mango salsa over the shrimp. Finish with extra crema and cilantro if desired for added flavor and presentation.
Notes
- For a healthier alternative, substitute sour cream with plain whole-milk Greek yogurt.
- Adjust the chili powder blend to tailor the spiciness to your preference.
- For an authentic smoky flavor, char the tortillas slightly over an open flame before assembling.
