Description
Classic Grilled Cheeseburgers are juicy, flavorful burgers made with a blend of ground beef and sirloin, seasoned simply, grilled to perfection, and topped with melted cheese and classic burger fixings.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (80/20)
1/2 lb ground sirloin (90/10)
1 tsp kosher salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
3/4 tsp onion powder
3/4 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
3/4 cup mayonnaise
3 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp yellow mustard
3 tbsp finely minced white onion
1/2 tsp paprika
2 tbsp finely minced pickles
4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
4 brioche buns, toasted
8 pieces butter lettuce
1 tomato, sliced
1/2 white onion, thinly sliced
Instructions
- In a large bowl, gently combine ground beef and ground sirloin.
- Add salt, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix just until combined.
- Divide mixture into four equal portions and shape into burger patties.
- Place patties on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, minced onion, paprika, and pickles to make the burger sauce. Refrigerate until needed.
- Preheat grill for zone cooking with one side over medium heat.
- Lightly oil grill grates and season patties lightly with salt and pepper.
- Grill burgers over direct heat for about 3 minutes per side until grill marks form.
- Move burgers to indirect heat, close lid, and cook another 5 minutes.
- Add cheese slices, close lid, and cook 1 minute until cheese melts.
- Remove burgers and rest for 5 minutes.
- Assemble burgers on toasted buns with sauce, lettuce, tomato, and onion.
Notes
Avoid overmixing the meat to keep burgers juicy.
Resting the patties helps retain moisture.
Do not press burgers while grilling.
Cast-iron skillet works well if grilling is not possible.
