Description

A creamy, cheesy twist on a seafood favorite, this Crab Rangoon Melt combines crab, cream cheese, and melty mozzarella between golden, buttery bread for a comforting, flavor-packed sandwich. Perfect for quick lunches or cozy dinners with a touch of indulgence.

Ingredients

1 cup crab meat (fresh or canned, well-drained)

115 g cream cheese, softened

2 tablespoons mayonnaise

2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

4 slices sandwich bread

2 tablespoons butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. In a bowl, combine cream cheese, crab meat, mayonnaise, green onions, garlic powder, soy sauce, lemon juice, and mozzarella cheese. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  3. Butter one side of each bread slice. On the unbuttered sides of two slices, spread a generous layer of the crab mixture. Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side facing out.
  4. Place sandwiches on the heated skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the filling is hot and melty.
  5. Remove from skillet and let rest for 1 minute before slicing diagonally.
  6. Serve warm with sweet chili sauce, a side salad, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Drain the crab meat well to prevent sogginess.

Cook over medium heat for even browning without burning the bread.

Use sourdough or brioche bread for extra flavor and structure.

Add chili flakes, sriracha, or hot sauce for a spicy version.

Swap mozzarella for Monterey Jack, Swiss, or cheddar if desired.

For an oven method, bake at 375°F for 10 minutes, flipping halfway.

Leftover filling can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days.
