Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 Tablespoons (30 ml) Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 2 Cups (473 ml) Hot Water
- 1 (24 oz or 680 g) Jar Spaghetti Sauce
- 1 (8 oz or 230 g) Can Mushrooms Pieces & Stems, drained
- 1 Pound (454 g) Browned Hamburger Meat
- 2 Tablespoons (5 g) Italian Seasoning
- 1 (16 to 17 oz or 453 g) Package Spaghetti Noodles
Optional Garnishes
- Parmesan cheese
- Parsley
- Red pepper flakes
- Other desired garnishes
Instructions
- Prepare Crock Insert: Grease your crock insert thoroughly with the olive oil, coating the bottom and sides several inches up to prevent sticking.
- Add Ingredients Except Noodles: Add all ingredients except the spaghetti noodles into the crock. Mix well to combine.
- Initial Cooking: Cover with the lid and set your slow cooker to High heat. Cook for one hour to blend flavors and heat ingredients through.
- Add Spaghetti Noodles: Remove the lid, stir the mixture, and break the spaghetti noodles in half to allow more even cooking. Add the broken noodles on top, pressing them down to help them soak in the sauce.
- Cook Noodles: Cover and continue cooking on High for approximately one hour more. Stir every 15 to 20 minutes, replacing the lid after each stir to ensure even cooking and prevent sticking.
- Final Stir and Serve: After cooking, stir the spaghetti well and dish out servings. Garnish with parmesan cheese, parsley, red pepper flakes, or any preferred toppings before serving.
Notes
- Depending on the pasta brand, you may need to add more hot water during cooking, in increments of ½ cup (118 ml), to ensure noodles cook properly and the crock isn’t damaged by cold water.
- If the sauce becomes too runny, leave the lid off for a while and stir periodically to allow excess liquid to evaporate.
- If the pasta hasn’t fully cooked, add more hot water, stir, replace the lid, and check again after 15 minutes.
- This recipe is adaptable for different types of pasta, though water amounts and cooking times will vary accordingly.
