Description

This Ground Beef and Cabbage recipe is a comforting, easy-to-make dish that combines hearty ground beef with tender cabbage, tomatoes, and seasonings. It’s a filling, nutritious meal perfect for busy weeknights or a nostalgic comfort food experience. Simple yet flavorful, this dish will quickly become a family favorite.

Ingredients

1 large head cabbage, finely chopped

1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes with juice

1 onion, halved and thinly sliced

1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

Salt and ground black pepper, to taste

1 pound lean ground beef

Instructions

  • Gather all your ingredients and prepare them accordingly.

  • Place the chopped cabbage, diced tomatoes with juice, sliced onion, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper into a Dutch oven or large pot over low heat.

  • Cook and stir the mixture until it begins to simmer.

  • Add the ground beef on top of the cabbage mixture. Cover the pot and cook, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and the ground beef is fully cooked through, about 45 minutes.

  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For added heat, include red pepper flakes or chili peppers.

This dish can easily be turned into a one-pot meal by adding rice or potatoes for extra texture and heartiness.

For a lighter version, substitute the ground beef with ground turkey or plant-based crumbles.
