Description

Quick, flavorful, and customizable, these Ground Turkey Rice Bowls with Bang Bang Sauce feature savory seasoned turkey, fluffy rice, and a creamy-spicy sauce for an easy, satisfying weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Ground Turkey Mixture:

1 lb ground turkey

1 tablespoon sesame oil (or preferred cooking oil)

23 garlic cloves, minced

2 teaspoons grated ginger

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce

12 tablespoons sriracha

23 tablespoons chicken broth

2 teaspoons honey

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon sea salt (adjust to taste)

2 teaspoons cornstarch

Bang Bang Sauce:

1/2 cup mayonnaise

3 tablespoons sweet chili sauce

1/21 tablespoon sriracha (to taste)

1 teaspoon rice vinegar

2 teaspoons honey

Rice Bowl Options:

Cooked rice, shredded carrots, sliced cucumbers, shelled edamame, pickled onions, avocado, shredded cabbage, sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and other desired toppings

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bang Bang Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, rice vinegar, and honey until smooth. Adjust spice or sweetness to taste, then refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks until browned and cooked through (internal temperature 165°F).
  3. Reduce heat to medium-low. Stir in garlic, ginger, smoked paprika, onion powder, soy sauce, sriracha, chicken broth, honey, salt, and pepper.
  4. Let simmer for 2–3 minutes, then sprinkle cornstarch over the mixture. Stir until thickened and evenly coated.
  5. Optional: Stir in 2 tablespoons of Bang Bang Sauce directly into the turkey mixture for extra flavor.
  6. Assemble the bowls: Add rice to each bowl and top with the turkey mixture. Garnish with desired toppings such as carrots, cucumbers, edamame, avocado, cabbage, or pickled onions.
  7. Drizzle generously with Bang Bang Sauce and sprinkle sesame seeds and green onions to finish. Serve warm.

Notes

Swap rice with quinoa or cauliflower rice for a lighter version.

Add extra sriracha or red pepper flakes for more heat.

Use light mayonnaise or Greek yogurt to make the sauce lower in calories.

Substitute turkey with chicken, beef, or tofu for variety.

Store components separately and assemble fresh for meal prep convenience.

The turkey mixture freezes well for up to 3 months.
