Description

Halloween Puppy Chow is a fun and festive snack, combining the perfect balance of sweet and salty with Rice Chex cereal, chocolate, peanut butter, and colorful Halloween candies. A perfect treat for any spooky celebration!

Ingredients

6 cups Rice Chex cereal

1 cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips

½ cup creamy peanut butter

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 cups powdered sugar

½ cup Reese’s mini peanut butter cups, chopped

½ cup M&M’s (or other orange and black chocolate candy)

½ cup candy eyes

½ cup candy corn

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cereal: Place the Rice Chex cereal in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Make the Chocolate Coating: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Heat the mixture in the microwave for 1 minute, then stir until completely melted and smooth.
  3. Coat the Cereal: Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal and stir to coat evenly.
  4. Coat with Powdered Sugar: In a large resealable bag, add the powdered sugar. Add the coated cereal to the bag, seal it, and shake vigorously to coat completely.
  5. Add the Halloween Candies: Transfer the coated cereal to a large bowl, then stir in the chopped peanut butter cups, M&M’s, candy eyes, and candy corn. Gently mix to combine.
  6. Store: Store your Halloween Puppy Chow in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Notes

Candy Mix-ins: You can switch up the candy mix-ins with mini marshmallows, pretzels, or other Halloween-themed candy.

Nut-Free Option: Swap the peanut butter for sunbutter or a nut-free butter alternative for a peanut-free version.

Chocolate Variations: Use white chocolate or dark chocolate chips instead of milk or semi-sweet chocolate for a new twist.
