Description

Hearty Apple Walnut Steel-Cut Oats are a warm, nourishing breakfast made with creamy steel-cut oats, tender apples, warming cinnamon, and crunchy walnuts—perfect for a comforting and filling start to the day.

Ingredients

1 cup steel-cut oats

2 cups water

1 cup milk (or plant-based alternative)

1 apple, diced

1/4 cup walnuts, chopped

1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Bring the water and milk to a boil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the steel-cut oats and reduce the heat to a gentle simmer.
  3. Cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  4. Stir in the diced apple, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Continue cooking for another 10 minutes, until the oats are creamy and the apples are tender.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the walnuts and honey or maple syrup.
  7. Serve warm.

Notes

Add extra milk when reheating to loosen the texture.

Pears can be substituted for apples.

Top with raisins, flaxseed, or nut butter for added nutrition.
