Description

Honey Garlic Butter Shrimp & Broccoli is a quick and flavorful stir-fry dish that combines succulent shrimp, tender broccoli, and a luscious honey garlic butter sauce. This recipe offers a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and a hint of spice, making it an ideal weeknight dinner served over rice or noodles.

Ingredients

Shrimp and Vegetables

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cups broccoli florets

Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For Serving and Garnish

  • Cooked rice or noodles, for serving (optional)
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
  • Green onions, sliced, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Broccoli: In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Blanch the broccoli florets for 2 minutes, then immediately transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Drain thoroughly and set aside to keep the broccoli crisp and vibrant green.
  2. Cook the Shrimp: Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the peeled and deveined shrimp with salt and pepper. Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter along with honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir continuously and cook the mixture for about 2 minutes until the sauce becomes bubbly and aromatic.
  4. Combine: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and add the blanched broccoli. Toss everything carefully to coat both the shrimp and broccoli evenly with the honey garlic butter sauce. Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through and flavors meld together.
  5. Serve: Plate the Honey Garlic Butter Shrimp & Broccoli over cooked rice or noodles if desired. Garnish with a sprinkling of sesame seeds and sliced green onions for added texture and color. Serve immediately to enjoy the freshest flavors.

Notes

  • Blanching broccoli before cooking helps maintain its vibrant color and crisp texture.
  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to control the spiciness level.
  • You can substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos for a gluten-free option.
  • Make sure not to overcook the shrimp to keep them tender and juicy.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
