Description
These irresistible coffee rolls are soft, fluffy, and swirled with cinnamon sugar, brushed with coffee, and topped with a rich coffee glaze for the perfect breakfast or brunch treat.
Ingredients
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons instant yeast
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup warm milk (110°F)
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup strong brewed coffee (divided)
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and softened butter, stirring until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour until doubled.
- Roll dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Brush with brewed coffee and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
- Roll tightly into a log and slice into 12 pieces using dental floss.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly. Mix powdered sugar with remaining brewed coffee to make a glaze, then drizzle over rolls before serving.
Notes
Add chopped pecans or walnuts to the filling for crunch.
Sprinkle chocolate chips for a mocha twist.
Drizzle with caramel sauce along with glaze for extra sweetness.
Store at room temperature for 2 days, in the fridge for 5 days, or freeze up to 2 months.
Reheat in microwave for 15–20 seconds or oven at 325°F for 5–7 minutes.
