Description

This Jalapeño Popper Pigs in a Blanket recipe brilliantly combines spicy jalapeño poppers with classic pigs in a blanket for the ultimate game day snack. Stuffed with a creamy mixture of cream cheese and cheddar, wrapped in crescent roll dough, then smoked to perfection, these appetizers offer a smoky, cheesy, and spicy flavor explosion that’s perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Jalapeño Poppers

  • 6-8 Jalapeños
  • 6-8 Cocktail Wieners
  • 1 block Cream Cheese (about 8 oz)
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese, shredded
  • ¼ cup Cowboy Candy Rub or BBQ seasoning
  • 2 Packages Crescent Roll dough
  • Honey Butter, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cheese Mixture: In a bowl, thoroughly mix the cream cheese and shredded cheddar cheese until well combined and smooth.
  2. Clean Jalapeños: Slice each jalapeño in half lengthwise. Using gloves or a utensil, carefully scoop out all of the seeds and membranes to reduce the heat and create space for stuffing.
  3. Stuff Jalapeños: Fill each jalapeño half generously with the cream cheese mixture. Place one cocktail wiener on top of the filled jalapeño half.
  4. Wrap in Dough: Take one crescent roll dough triangle and carefully wrap it around the stuffed jalapeño and wiener, making sure it is fully enclosed and sealed to prevent filling from leaking.
  5. Season: Sprinkle the wrapped jalapeños evenly with Cowboy Candy Rub or your preferred BBQ seasoning for added flavor.
  6. Preheat Smoker/Grill: Heat your smoker or grill to 375°F using indirect heat. Add wood chips or chunks to impart a smoky flavor.
  7. Smoke Jalapeño Poppers: Place the wrapped jalapeños onto the smoker grates and cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  8. Serve: Remove from the smoker and serve hot with honey butter on the side for dipping. Enjoy your smoky, cheesy, and spicy game day treat!

Notes

  • Wear gloves when handling jalapeños to avoid skin irritation.
  • Removing seeds and membranes will reduce the heat; leave some seeds if you prefer spicier poppers.
  • If you don’t have a smoker, you can bake the poppers in a preheated oven at 375°F for 20-25 minutes.
  • Substitute cocktail wieners with mini sausages or veggie alternatives for customization.
  • Honey butter adds a delightful sweet contrast; you can substitute with ranch or blue cheese dip if preferred.
