Description
A hearty and comforting baked casserole featuring tender cabbage, savory ground beef, tangy tomatoes, and rice, all blended into a flavorful, easy-to-make dish perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
1 small cabbage, shredded
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, with juice
1 cup cooked rice
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned, about 7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes with juice, cooked rice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes to blend the flavors.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.
- Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving warm.
Notes
Add 1/2 tsp chili powder for extra heat.
Top with shredded cheddar or mozzarella before baking for a cheesy version.
Use ground turkey instead of beef for a lighter option.
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
Reheat in the microwave or oven until heated through.
