Description

A hearty and comforting baked casserole featuring tender cabbage, savory ground beef, tangy tomatoes, and rice, all blended into a flavorful, easy-to-make dish perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 small onion, chopped

1 small cabbage, shredded

1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, with juice

1 cup cooked rice

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned, about 7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes with juice, cooked rice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes to blend the flavors.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.
  7. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Add 1/2 tsp chili powder for extra heat.

Top with shredded cheddar or mozzarella before baking for a cheesy version.

Use ground turkey instead of beef for a lighter option.

Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.

Reheat in the microwave or oven until heated through.
