Description

Skillet Asiago Chicken with Mushrooms is a rich and creamy dish that combines tender chicken breasts with savory mushrooms in a luscious Asiago cheese sauce. Perfect for a weeknight dinner or a special gathering, it offers a comforting and elegant flavor profile.

Ingredients

For the Chicken and Sauce:

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 cup sliced mushrooms (button or cremini)

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup chicken broth

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Asiago cheese

1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (basil, oregano)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the Chicken: Sprinkle both sides of the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook the Chicken: Add chicken breasts to the skillet, cooking for 5–7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken and set aside.
  4. Sauté the Mushrooms: In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for 3–4 minutes until tender.
  5. Add Garlic: Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  6. Deglaze the Pan: Pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  7. Make the Sauce: Reduce heat to low, add heavy cream, grated Asiago cheese, and Italian herbs. Stir until the cheese melts and the sauce becomes creamy.
  8. Return the Chicken: Place the chicken breasts back into the skillet and let them soak in the sauce for 2–3 minutes.
  9. Adjust Seasoning: Taste the sauce and adjust with more salt and pepper if needed.
  10. Serve: Remove from heat, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve immediately.

Notes

Add fresh thyme or rosemary for extra aromatic flavor.

Incorporate steamed broccoli for extra texture and color.

For a citrusy twist, add lemon zest to the sauce.

Feel free to swap Asiago with Gruyère, Parmesan, or sharp cheddar for different flavor profiles.
