Description
Stuffed Baked Apples are a healthier dessert made with apples, sunflower seed butter, honey, and oats. A warm, wholesome treat perfect for any occasion, offering sweetness without the guilt.
Ingredients
4 medium-size apples (Gala or any variety you prefer)
⅓ cup sunflower seed butter (or any nut/seed butter)
¼ cup honey (or maple syrup/brown rice syrup for a vegan option)
10 tablespoons oats
Instructions
-
Core the apples: Cut out the middle of each apple, leaving a hollow space for the filling.
-
Prepare the apple filling: Place the apples on a parchment-lined baking pan. Add 1 tablespoon of oats into the center of each apple as a plug to help hold the filling.
-
Mix the filling: In a bowl, combine the remaining oats, sunflower seed butter, and honey (or maple syrup) to form a thick, sticky filling.
-
Stuff the apples: Spoon the filling into each apple, packing it tightly. Optionally, sprinkle extra oats on top for added texture.
-
Bake the apples: Cover with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 40-50 minutes, or until the apples are tender. Broil for 1-2 minutes for a golden, crisp finish.
-
Serve: Serve warm, or chill for later. Pair with vanilla ice cream or yogurt for added indulgence.
Notes
Nut Butter Substitutes: Almond butter, peanut butter, or cashew butter can be used instead of sunflower seed butter.
Vegan Option: Replace honey with maple syrup or brown rice syrup.
Add-ins: Add cinnamon, chopped nuts (walnuts or almonds), or dried fruits (raisins or cranberries) for extra flavor.
