Ingredients
Turkey
- 1 boneless turkey breast – approx 3 pounds
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Seasoning
- 2½ tsp paprika
- 2 tsp granulated garlic
- 1½ tsp table salt
- 1¼ tsp oregano
- 1¼ tsp thyme
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- ½ tsp crushed red pepper
Instructions
- Preheat Oven. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for roasting the turkey breast.
- Prepare Baking Dish. Lightly spray a small casserole or baking dish with oil to prevent sticking and to help with even cooking.
- Prepare Turkey. Remove the turkey breast from its packaging. If it is tied with a net, keep it on; if not, tie it securely with kitchen twine to maintain shape during roasting. Place the turkey breast into the prepared baking dish.
- Oil the Turkey. Brush the entire turkey breast generously with olive oil to help the seasoning stick and to keep the meat moist.
- Mix Seasoning. In a small bowl, thoroughly combine paprika, granulated garlic, salt, oregano, thyme, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and crushed red pepper.
- Season Turkey. Sprinkle the seasoning mix evenly over the olive oil-coated turkey breast. Press the seasoning into the surface gently to ensure it adheres well.
- Initial Roasting. Place the turkey breast in the preheated oven and roast at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes to sear the outside and lock in flavors.
- Continue Roasting. Reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and continue roasting for an additional 35-40 minutes, or until the thickest part of the turkey reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Rest the Turkey. Remove the dish from oven and let the turkey breast rest for about 15 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, keeping the meat moist.
- Finish and Serve. Remove the net or twine from the turkey, slice it against the grain, and serve hot.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to confirm the thickest part of the turkey breast reaches 165°F to ensure safety and optimal juiciness.
- If the turkey breast is not tied, tying it before cooking helps maintain an even shape for uniform cooking.
- Adjust cayenne pepper and crushed red pepper amounts for milder or spicier flavor according to preference.
- Letting the turkey rest after roasting is crucial to preserve moisture.
