Description

This peach lemonade is a refreshing and fruity beverage that combines the natural sweetness of fresh peaches with the bright tartness of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Perfect for warm weather, it offers a homemade alternative to store-bought lemonade with customizable options like still, sparkling, or coconut water. The homemade peach syrup intensifies the peach flavor, delivering a vibrant and delicious drink ideal for gatherings, picnics, or casual refreshment.

Ingredients

The Peach Syrup

  • 1.16 lb peaches, peeled and chopped (about 3 large peaches or 2 cups chopped)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup sugar (regular sugar, brown sugar, honey, or sugar-free alternatives such as erythritol or stevia)

The Other Peach Lemonade Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup lemon juice (juice of 2 lemons)
  • 3 cups water (can be still water, sparkling water, or coconut water)
  • Lemon slices from one lemon and/or some peach slices
  • Optional garnish: fresh mint leaves
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Peach Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine the peeled and chopped peaches, sugar, and 2 cups of water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently to dissolve the sugar and incorporate the peaches.
  2. Simmer the Syrup: Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the peaches soften and become mushy, releasing their flavors into the syrup.
  3. Cool and Strain: Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes. Then strain the mixture through a sieve to separate the smooth peach syrup from the pulp.
  4. Juice the Lemons: While the syrup cools, juice the lemons and set the juice aside. Optionally, zest the lemons before juicing for later use or garnish.
  5. Mix the Lemonade: In a large pitcher, combine the prepared peach syrup, fresh lemon juice, and 3 cups of your choice of water (still, sparkling, or coconut). Stir well to integrate all ingredients.
  6. Adjust the Flavor: Taste the lemonade and adjust sweetness, lemon juice, or water quantity to your preference for balance and freshness.
  7. Serve: Add ice cubes to individual glasses to keep the pitcher undiluted, or add ice directly to the pitcher if serving immediately. Garnish with lemon slices, peach slices, and fresh mint if desired.

  • Mix in fresh ginger for a refreshing spicy note.
  • Peach syrup can be made up to 2 weeks in advance and refrigerated in an airtight container.
