Description
A refreshing and vibrant Watermelon Lemonade recipe that perfectly balances the sweetness of watermelon with the tanginess of fresh lemon juice, making it an ideal drink for hot days or gatherings.
Ingredients
Ingredients
- 6 cups cubed seedless watermelon, chilled (approximately 2 lbs after peeling)
- 4 cups cold water
- 3/4 cup fresh strained lemon juice, chilled
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- Ice, as needed
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Puree the Watermelon: Place the chilled cubed watermelon into a blender and pulse several times until the watermelon is well pureed and smooth, yielding about 4 cups of juice.
- Strain the Puree: Pour the watermelon puree through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl to remove pulp and seeds, resulting in a smooth watermelon juice.
- Mix the Lemonade Base: In a large pitcher, whisk together the cold water, fresh strained lemon juice, and granulated sugar until the sugar completely dissolves, creating a balanced sweet and tangy base.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the strained watermelon juice to the pitcher and stir well to combine all flavors uniformly.
- Serve: Add ice cubes and fresh mint to the pitcher or alternatively add ice and mint directly to individual glasses and pour the watermelon lemonade over them.
- Chill: Store remaining lemonade in the refrigerator until ready to serve to keep it pleasantly cool.
Notes
- For best flavor, chill the watermelon, lemon juice, and water before preparing the lemonade.
- If you don’t have enough time to chill the ingredients, you can substitute some of the water with extra ice cubes to keep the drink cold.
- Adjust the sugar quantity according to your sweetness preference; start with less and add more if needed.
- Fresh mint adds a nice aroma and freshness but can be omitted if unavailable.
- This lemonade is best served immediately but can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
